Just transfered these pics to my laptop hence the delay.
Decided to make popiah from the Nonya cookbook we had. One of the easiest. All you need to do is:
Buy popiah skin, 150g each carrots and mengkuang

Fry the grated carrots and mengkuang, add in lightly beaten egg, then drain them.

Fold the popiah skin anyway you like, just seal it with starch water. Mum's the expert. mine resulted in misshapened popiahs

We made 18 i think

Just deep fry... and...

Voila!

Nah...

More realistic looking eh?

Garnished and chilli sauce mixed with tomato sauce and lime, ready for eating!
Recently I've been feeling rather aloof to my dad, i think its especially since the day my grandma lamented how life is tougher for girls, like what she pointed out about how my mum needed to rush back from work to prepare dinner when grandma was away. How true, the second shift and all..albeit putting in almost equal amount of effort in the working world. Females' share of household chores are the daily or more frequent ones like washing dishes; cooking dinner; washing, hanging, folding, ironing clothes; sweeping and mopping floors. Whereas males expertise in DIY is hardly put to use. Changing lightbulbs, unclogging drains, what else really? In this age, why isn't there equality in the households? We used to take turns washing dishes and at recent times I brattishly resent my dad for not doing his part. I wonder if the situation will be better with our generation of future husbands. Or perhaps I should just be thankful my dad is supporting our household, and step up to my role as a female in lightening my mum and grandma's household burden.
