    Earworm: Mr. Brightside~~The Killers

argh my blog is going obsolete again! let's see... recent movies watched: the interpreter with mar and brit on... was it april 30? ate dinner at suki sushi @ cineleisure. finally psyched myself up for japanese food... rather turned off by the barfing experience in genting like 5 years ago. one of my first taste of japanese food that's not teppanyaki too... seems like my two eating companions are well experienced in eating sushi, listened to their recommendations. they both ate some red baby octopus which i didnt dare touch. according to brit its poisonous in large amounts??!! in the end i ate some eel which tasted quite pleasant, some shrimp sushi, salmon and rather sickeningly sweet tofu. unfortuntately my stomach didnt quite agree with me after that. same thing happened to mar too, tho hers was much more delayed reaction. lol.
went into the movie theatre 5 mins late... met yen roo and chui fen on the way in but they were just milling around and not watching any movie. our seats were right in the front row, on the left block. had a bit of a crick in my neck after watching. the acting was good, dialogue can get a bit too political and left my mind reeling trying to catch up with whats happening. sean penn's character has rather lame lines. like 'this is how u put down a gun'. the explosion on the bus was spectacular, but the movie seem to lack some elements that will make it more exciting. it was not climatic enough i guess. rating: 3.5/5

on monday (may day holiday), went to the Times warehouse sale with mar, brit and jol. wasn't as good as the MPH one.. jol ordered her Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince book tho. due out in July 16th!

this is the cover jol bought

    this is the american cover

i like this the best tho. it's the british adult cover
i picked up 3 books for $10 (the amber spyglass-Phillip Pullman, it's the third book in a trilogy, too bad i can't find the other two, crime fiction Right as Rain by George P. Pelecanos, and the book im currently reading) and brit twice the amount but both mar and jol didnt find anything they liked.

last saturday, been trying so hard to get people to watch Kingdom of Heaven together. rejected so many times by excuses of 'not interested, no money, no time, F.Maths test! going for CCC...etc u get my drift' so anyways, went with KL and SF. headed first to wisma atria's topshop to buy thongs for KL's cheerleading seniors =p later ate at delifrance where sf professed that she can't wait to get into a relationship! Shockers! i always thought she was the anti-men type, since she always condemn males to be liars, cheaters.... hmm but then again noticed she got more boy crazy recently (Allan Wu?)
the movie was sold out and we could only manage to get tix for 7.50pm coz the next was 9.45pm. we had single seats at the side in the same line. pathetic. it was a first not to sit next to someone i know in the movie theatre. popcorn was passed from front to back hahaha.
was disappointed by the movie. blame it a bit on tired eyes that i felt like sleeping an hour or so into the movie. but yeah, orlando looked good =p (another of his love scene got scissored) but his portrayal of a 'reluctant hero' was notconvincing enough. the storyline was also not powerful enough and the acting seem a bit forced some times. couldn't get the significance of the role of the princess at all, other than being the love interest. during battle scenes, the camera just pans in on her looking melancholic/worried/wondering when the goddamn movie will end... oh and she cuts her hair in the middle of the battle. go figure. rating: 2.5/5 or 3 coz of dishy orlando lol.
later at night subjected my tired eyes to more torture by watching Coach Carter. im just a movie junkie. not that its that bad a movie tho. just didnt find the 'inspirational part' that my friend raved about thats supposed to motivate us to do our homework. yup, thats mainly the flaw, not inspiring enough. but samuel l. jackson's acting was great. rating: 2.5/5
