Earworm: Sunday morning~~Maroon 5

College day this morning. reported at LT2 at 8am but already a long line of seniors waiting to register. skip the boring bits to the actual ceremony instead. chamber ensemble opened it with some soothing music but not much people paying attention to them sadly. soon, it was my turn to take the best science student award. saw the girl who got best arts student receive this huge crystal bowl. but didnt register in my mind that im supposed to get the same stuff. so after receiving my plaque, just walked right off the stage. did wonder why there were some laughter. found out later that its actually the guy behind me forgot his crystal thingy too but when called back he just shrugged it off and walked right off stage!
but my blurness was also coz i thought there won't be enough time to change into my SYF costume. so ran all the way to the holding room and then to toilet and back to the room again, actually with some time to spare. didnt get to practise the piece together with the conductor but our performance turned out alright and we received thunderous applause which was quite rewarding. they made us stand there and sing the college anthem after tho. before the performance kee liang came to me and told me i forgot my prize! then mrs goh asked was i too shy to get it? and informed me to get it from mrs. beetsma and mrs. than later.. whoops!
went to the HOD Arts room and mrs beetsma said something along the lines of 'bloody idiot' to me. 'best science student who don't even know how to recieve award. I'm so angry with you! don't want to give you your award!' to which mrs. than quipped, 'let's give her the trophy, but we keep the cheque for ourselves'. all in joking manner, gave me both the heavy trophy(which had my name carved onto it!) and the $100 cheque later. just had to grin and bear the admonishment.

guitar 3 and 4 off to NYDC @suntec for lunch!
shared a spicy BBQ chicken sandwich (nice foccacia bread) with nicole. skipped desserts coz feeling a bit full and had lemon shiver for refreshments instead. tried some of the potato salad (tastes delicious too) and the desserts super rich. prices a lil on the steep side. watched a video or rather slide show of pics with SYF pieces and crazy screaming of the school anthem after SYF on jeffrey's laptop, courtesy of miak. after lunch, had some silly games and mixed melted choc ice cream with parmesan cheese, spices and tobasco sauce for penalty. luckily i had to leave for Star Wars @ cineleisure before i kena. =p
suntec is huge. had bongoman to lead me out lest i get lost. went to the bus station opposite but only one bus going to orchard. so took cab for fear of being late. who knew only ck was early, seven others late too. so missed first 5 mins of the movie, later someone remarked that it didnt seem like a Star Wars film coz didnt see the words at the screen 'A long long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..'
basically the special effects were amazing. sets were in all its grandeur. lightsabre duels were exciting. but thought general grievous (with his irritating coughing) was too easily defeated. the four lightsabres wielded by him were cool tho, altho less than 5 mins 2 of em got chopped off by obi-wan. Jol sitting beside me flinched everytime there was the line "May the Force be with you" or "You don't know the power of the dark side" coz it reminded her of the mad star wars fan cum bio lecturer mr ng. lol. but she was a new fan after the movie. was particularly saddened when the Jedis were betrayed. and the younglings murdered. noticed that only creatures (wookies) didnt turn their backs on Jedis, the rest who did were humans.

Anakin: No, I didnt mean that...
Padme: But it's probably true
What the??? corniness amplified when padme died in childbirth coz she 'lost the will to live'
Hayden Christensen's acting cannot make it. a movie critic's scathing remark was 'merely saying he's wooden would be an affront to puppets everywhere'. he says lines like 'this is outrageous.' yes, with a monotonous full stop, not an indignant exclamation mark.
luckily he has better co-stars like ewan mcgregor. and loved all the yoda fighting scenes =) overall rating: 4/5
after the movie, had dinner at rather sucky food court. then jol, kl, brit and me wandered around heeren and gramophone. took neoprints at heeren. machines spouting jap at such a quick pace that brit cant decipher in time. and i can only read bits of jap that is in chinese characters. so hopelessly we punched in random buttons. voila, it's para-para style with figures dancing in the small screen and they squeak 3,2,1 go! and the shutters went off! in the middle a curtain came down on me and jol too, like totally unexpected! but had a great time laughing anyway.
